How RAIN® RFID helps increase fish counting
During the recent World Fish Migration Day, conservationists highlighted the need to keep the world’s rivers healthy to help migratory fish populations recover. In addition to dams blocking access to spawning grounds and pollution of rivers and oceans, fish face a range of challenges that threaten their survival and sustainability as a global food source.
Omni-ID (a HID Global - IDT company), as part of a three-way consortium, received a project funded by Eurostars / Innovate UK to develop a UHF tag and reader system that could be used to count multiple fish simultaneously, with increased read range between the school of fish and the RFID reader.
